The Little Mermaid, which normally graces Copenhagen Harbour continues to draw thousands of visitors at the Expo 2010 exhibition in Shanghai.

Prior to the exhibition, it had been hoped that the Danish pavilion, designed by the Bjarke Engels Group, could attract some three million people to the building that envelops the Copenhagen landmark.

But by August, two months before the exhibition is due to close, almost four million people have already visited the building.

“With 30,000 visitors each day, a figure of six million is a realistic target,” Danish pavilion Deputy Director Lotta Salling tells Ritzau.

The pavilion is also on the list of pavilions recommended for a visit by the Chinese government. In all, 242 countries and cities are represented at Expo 2010 in Shanghai.
