118 passengers have been evacuated from the Danish-owned Clipper Adventurer which ran aground last Friday on an uncharted rock in the Canadian province of Nunavut’s Coronation Gulf.

All passengers are reported well and 69 crew remain on board the vessel. The Canadian Coastguard reports that the ice-strengthened vessel has not taken in water and is stable but listing.

The vessel was on its way from Port Epworth in Nunavut to Kugluktuk when it ran aground on Friday. The Canadian icebreaker Amundsen reached the vessel yesterday and was able to evacuate passengers. Passengers are to be taken to Kugluktuk, from where they will be flown to Edmonton.

The Clipper Adventurer is owned by the Copenhagen-based Clipper shipping company but is run by International Shipping Partners in Miami, Fla.

Neither Clipper, nor International Shipping Partners feature the issue on their home pages.
