One of the most controversial programmes in the Nordic region at the moment is the right-wing Sweden Democrat immigration film – a film that Swedish broadcasters have declined to show and which prompted Danish Liberal, Conservative and Danish People’s Party politicians to question Sweden’s election democracy.

Not only have Swedish broadcasters declined to show the film, but it appears that no Swedish production company was willing to produce the film – so it was produced in Denmark by three Danish companies, according to B.T..

“For six months we tried to find someone in Sweden who would produce the film. But nobody would, so the film was produced in Denmark,” says Sweden Democrat Press Spokesman Erik Alqvist.

Sound production for the film was carried out by the Danish company Supersonic that now regrets having taken part.

“We didn’t know what we were saying yes to, but it’s correct that we did the sound production,” says Supersonic CEO Mitch Fischerman. According to B.T., the Danish production company Strickly Production has also played an important role in producing the film.

The Danish company Duckling confirms having initially worked on the film to carry out post-edit colour correction, but regretted its role, and when it became clear what the film was about, delivered an unfinished job and declined payment.

“It is not our job to take a political standpoint, but if I had known from the beginning what it was about, we would have declined the job,” says Duckling Director Mads Munk.
