The Food Standards Agency has issued a warning concerning certain porridge oats, produced on Nov. 30th, 2010 and with a best by date of Nov. 29, 2011, as a result of a too high content of a fungal toxin.

The agency says the oats have been sold in SuperBest, Aldi and Netto supermarkets across the country and involve the following brands:

  • Dalby Mølle, økologiske havregryn
  • Best, økologiske havregryn, finvalsede
  • First price, økologiske havregryn, finvalsede
  • Gammelby Mølle, økologiske havregryn, grovvalsede
  • Morgengry, økologiske havregryn, finvalsede

The warning comes following the discovery of too high levels of the fungal toxin deoxynivalenol, which is a toxin produced by fungus in grain.

The Food Standards Agency says that if consumers have purchased one of the products with these production and best by dates, they should discard it or return it to their point of purchase.

The acute symptom of deoxynivalenol poisoning is vomiting.
