Heavy snow this morning has caused major problems on Danish roads, with many motorists falling prey to slippery roads and getting stuck in snowdrifts.

“So far we have had 227 calls – most of which are motorists who need to be pulled out of snowdrifts,” says Mikkel Andreas Beck of Falck.

Snow showers began at 5 a.m. and became heavy as people began to drive to work. Heavy winds compounded problems with drifting snow.

“The problems seem to be worst in North Jutland and Zealand. People should expect long delays,” says Road Directorate Spokesman Thorarinn Aggi Thorarinsson, who adds that the snow is expected to stop later in the morning.
