The KB-Hallen hall in Frederiksberg in Copenhagen is on fire and in danger of
“This is a very serious fire and there is a danger that the entire hall will
burn down,” the Chief Fire Officer tells Ritzau.
The flames, which had seemed to be under control at one point, have
re-kindled, with the roof now also on fire.
“Pretty much all of the roof is on fire. Firemen have withdrawn from the
roof,” says Politiken.dk Photographer Jens Dresling.
Police received an alarm call at 5.30 a.m. this morning. The fire is said to
have started in the reception area of the hall when a halogen light was
thought to have caused a cardboard box to catch fire. The exact cause of the
fire, however, remains to be investigated.
Several people had been sleeping in the hall, where an erotic exhibition was
to have opened this afternoon, but has now been cancelled.
The KB-Hall was built in 1938, and at the time was Europe’s biggest private
sporting facility. It was recently renovated and met all modern anti-fire
