Denmark has a new princess.

French-born Princess Marie, wife to Queen Margrethe’s second son Prince Joachim, gave birth to a 2,930 gramme, 49 cm baby girl Tuesday, the 10th in line to the Danish throne.

The baby is the couple’s second child, Prince Joachim’s fourth and Queen Margrethe II and Prince Henrik’s eighth grandchild. The couple’s firstborn is 2½-year-old Prince Henrik.

Speaking to reporters at the Rigshospitalet hospital in Copenhagen following the delivery, Prince Joachim said mother and child were tired but well.

Prince Joachim has two children with his former wife Countess Alexandra – Prince Nicolai (11) and Prince Felix (9).
