For the first time, a comprehensive collection of some 100 drawings by John Lennon is to be exhibited in Denmark in an exhibition arranged by Yoko Ono, according to Kulturen on News.

In the years prior to the Beatles breakthrough, Lennon went to art school in Liverpool and until his death in 1980 had ambitions to be recognised as an artist. The drawings, which will be exhibited at the Hotel Crowne Plaza – Copenhagen Towers, depict Lennon’s life with his family and friends.

Several of the drawings have been coloured by Yoko Ono and several of them are from her own private collection.

“They give pleasure and show people what a great artist he was. All artists want recognition, and we didn’t draw anything specifically to put it away and forget it,” Ono tells Kulturen on News.

“Artists want to communicate and John can communicate even now, so I am doing what he wanted to do,” Ono adds.
