Clinton visits Denmark

U.S. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton is in Denmark today on an official visit, the first official visit by a secretary of state since Barack Obama became president.

Clinton is to meet Queen Margrethe at 10.30, after which she is to meet some 400 Danish students at Den Sorte Diamant and answer questions put to her on Twitter and Facebook. TV2 News will be broadcasting live from the debate.

Political meetings with Foreign Minister Villy Søvndal begin with luncheon at noon during which the two ministers are expected to discuss Syria, Afghanistan and the Arctic region.

Later in the afternoon, Clinton will meet Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt and at 5 p.m. she will be opening a conference on green investment.

Denmark is the first leg of Clinton’s trip, which will take her to Oslo, Stockholm, Turkey and the Caucasus.
