Copenhagen police arrested 32 people overnight in a raid on prostitution in Istedgade.

According to the police, the raid was primarily directed at African women, who have dominated the area at night

The 31 of those arrested were Nigerians who are believed to be in the country under false premises, while the last arrestee was a man who was released when it became clear he was a French citizen.

“Week by week we have been able to see that more African women have been arriving and they are getting increasingly aggressive,” says Dep. Chief Supt. Kjeld Farcinsen of the Copenhagen Police Foreigners Unit.

“Plain clothes officers say the make no bones of the fact that they are offering sexual services. They are not discrete,” Farcinsen says, adding officers will be carrying out more raids as some 20 women managed to escape the police net.
