The Social Democrats and Socialist People’s parties seem to be experiencing a voter exodus of dimensions following the recent agreement with the Liberals on a tax reform.

According to the latest Voxmeter poll for Ritzau, an election today would give the Social Democrats a mere 15.9 per cent, the lowest ever poll for the party. The Socialist People’s Party would drop to 5.4 per cent, the poll says.

In general elections last year, the Social Democrats took 24.8 per cent of the vote while the Socialist People’s Party took 9.2 per cent..

Were an election to be held today, the Social Dmeocrats would take 28 seats in the 179-seat Folketing, compared to their current 44 seats. The Socialist People’s Party would be down on 9 seats instead of their current 16.

Voxmeter shows that a fraction of the government losses has been taken up by the third coalition party, the Social Liberals, who advance 0.7 per cent to 9.3 per cent. Many voters, however, appear to have moved towards the Red Greens, whose poll figure is at 12.3 per cent, a full 5.6 percentage points higher than its election result and an advance of 2.5 percentage points higher than the previous Voxmeter poll.

The Liberal Party has also dropped some votes compared to the previous poll, but is still way ahead of its election result. The poll says that if an election were held today the Liberals would garner 34.9 per cent compared to 26.7 per cent at the last election.
