The latest unemployment figures from Statistics Denmark shows an increase in jobless from April to May of 900, with a total of 162,500 or 6.2 per cent of the labour force out of work.

Unemployment has remained between 6.1 and 6.2 per cent since February 2011.

In the latest figures, male unemployment has risen by 300, while female unemployment has risen by 600.

From 2008, when the crisis started, until the end of 2011, male unemployment was greater than female unemployment. Over the past six months, however, the trend has changed, with both male and female unemployment at around 6.2 per cent.
