The latest Megafon poll for TV2 indicates changing sentiments in the electorate with all three cabinet parties increasing their vote and the Red Greens dropping votes.

The biggest change is for the Social Democrats who move forward from 17.3 per cent to 19.8 per cent, the Social Liberals move from 7.8 per cent to 9.3 per cent and the Socialist People’s Party a marginal 0.6 percentage points to 5.8 per cent.

The poll shows the Red Greens on the other hand dropping 3.1 percentage points to land on 10.8 per cent.

Despite the advances for the centre-left, the poll still shows a majority for the four parties of the centre-right, polling an overall 54.2 per cent compared to the centre-left’s 45.8 per cent.

Of the centre-right parties, two log advances while the other two retreat.

The Danish People’s Party, whose leader Pia Kjærsgaard has announced she is to step down at the next congress in September, adds 1.4 percentage points to its tally to end on 13.9 per cent.

The Liberal Alliance also moves marginally forward from 4.7 per cent in the late June poll to 5.4 per cent now.

But the poll suggests that both the Liberals and Conservatives have dropped votes; The Liberals down at 31.1 per cent from 33.4 per cent, while the Conservatives drop 0.7 percentage points to land on 3.7 per cent.

The August 9-10 poll asked 1,050 respondents who they would vote for if an election were held now.

The Danish Folketing or Parliament has 179 seats, with a majority requiring 90 seats. Four seats are reserved with two each for the Faroe Islands and Greenland. There are currently eight parties in Parliament plus the four territorial seats.
