For those pining for a taste of real summer, the Met Office is promising a weekend fit for the beach – and for farmers perhaps harvesting - this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Following a rather wet Thursday, DMI says a mini-heat wave will be descending on Denmark, with temperatures up to 30 degrees at the weekend.

“We expect Friday to be sunny throughout the country with temperatures up to 25 degrees. Saturday and Sunday will be even better with temperatures between 25 and 28 degrees and perhaps even up to 30 degrees,” says DMI Duty Officer Thyge Rasmussen.

But Thyge Rasmussen says there is some question as to whether the weather in Northwest Jutland will be quite as clement.

“Northwest Jutland may lose out as it is on the borderline between the heat and colder weather and it may be overcast and with some rain,” he says.

Southern European winds are said to be the reason for the weekend’s sunny and hot weather, which can only be called a mini-heat wave as a full-blown heat wave requires at least three consecutive days at 28 degrees.
