Sorø Council has won a lengthy legal battle in connection with its demand for the repayment of social security from a woman who won prizes in a television show.

Lone Christensen won several larger prizes in a television show, something she is not able to do while receiving social security, according to Dagbladet Ringsted.

The Appeals Agency has overturned a decision by the Labour Appeals Board which had found in favour of Christensen. The council is demanding the repayment of 76.456 kr.

“This may mean that one of my daughters will have to leave the after-school centre and the other her kindergarten,” Christensen tells Dagbladet Ringsted.

Sorø Mayor Ivan Hansen says the case is an unfortunate one.

“But it is a question of principle and the decision has confirmed that we did the right thing in appealing. Our legal advice was correct,” Hansen says.
