Arctic conditions are on their way to Denmark, with sub-zero temperatures, rain and probably the year’s first snow on Thursday night, according to the Met Office.

A cold front is due to cross Denmark tonight, bringing icy weather and much lower temperatures in its wake.

With gales expected, particularly in coastal areas, the wind chill factor will make it feel between zero and minus 10 degrees.

A cloud system packing heavy showers will also cross the country on Thursday night, with the possibility of the year’s first snow.

“I wouldn't be surprised if some places in East Zealand wake up to snow on the ground on Friday morning. But it will disappear later in the day,” Henriksen says.

The cold weather will continue over the weekend but with fewer showers and less wind.

“Friday and Saturday are looking good with some sunny periods,” Henriksen says, but adds that temperatures are expected to drop to minus five degrees on Saturday night.
