Adam Aamann made a good name for himself a few years ago when he opened a whole new type of smorgasbord restaurant, which despite its novelty was a re-birth of Denmark’s cultural heritage in open sandwiches.

The new evening dinner eatery Etablissementet, which is next door, is not quite so constrained by tradition.

There is a clear direction in its hot evening menu – which consists of Danish bistro food in a somewhat untraditional form but nonetheless quite recognisable, tasty and of high quality.

The menu is simple – two choices of each of the starters, main courses, desserts and a single cheese plate and with the option of combining everything from two (DKK 255 ) to six (DKK 445) courses.

The food is excellent and the bill ends up at around DKK 1,140 for two including wine.
