You can’t get a table at the Malbeck Wine Bar on Istedgade. Simply because there aren’t any. On the other hand, the wine bar has rebuilt both its bar and stair system so that guests can only sit in levels – rather like a mini-amphitheatre.

A sommelier receives you, hangs your coat on one of the orange plastic hooks on the wall and begins building seating for you and your friends using boxes and cushions.

Hans and Patrick are the originators of the wine bar. Both have lived in Argentina and are so taken by the country that they only serve Argentinean wines costing between DKK 40 and DKK 80 per glass. Tapas also available.

Malbeck, Istedgade 61, 1650 København V, Tel 33 31 19 70. Open Tue-Thu 4 p.m. to midnight, Fri-Sat 4 p.m. to 1 a.m.
