Wooden chairs and an assortment of dark, long tables from Sweden give guests the cosy atmosphere at Kenn Husted’s wine bar Falernum on little, busy Værnedamsvej road.

Falernum is open all day – so from eight in the morning, Vesterbro’s pupils and people on their way to work can enjoy home-baked delicacies, tea and coffee. Up until lunchtime, the place is more a café than a wine bar.

When the sun begins to take over and Falernum’s glass frontage opens fully onto the street, guests can also enjoy a glass of wine or a cup of coffee outdoors.

In the evening, it’s a busy place. In fact, it’s so full of people most days of the week that it’s a battle to find a place to smoke on the benches outside.

Wine costs from DKK 45 to DKK 100 for a glass and between DKK 180 and DKK 1,500 for a bottle.

Falernum, Værnedamsvej 16, 1619 København V. Tel 33 22 30 89. Open Mon-Thu 8 a.m.- midnight. Thu-Fri 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sat 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sun 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
