Ecology goes hand in hand with cocktail classics such as cosmopolitans, mojitos and sex on the beach in the Red Cross lounge Café Zusammen.

In the same way as Café Retro’s surplus from ecological food and drink goes in full to humanitarian projects and projects for needy children and young people, the only paid staff member at Zusammen is a chef. The chef and some 80 volunteers give you a good experience in the café’s red milieu.

When you enter the café, there are two lounges with heavy, red, ceiling to floor curtains; long, red, lacquered tables, red pouffes, red fatboys, a red floor, red lamps and candles.

If you move on into the café proper, where the food is served, it’s all white and rather reminiscent of a clinical, white, space capsule with a few designer lamps hanging to break the sterility.

The café’s offerings are written on an illuminated board behind the bar. And it’s quite tempting with salad, soup, sandwiches, vegetarian goodies and snacks and tapas, among other dishes.
