This 300m2 book café provides literature, music and various products and gizmos from the Third World.

Tranquebar is run under the fair trade motto and you can be absolutely sure that irrespective of whatever you buy, rights are carefully observed. You can find everything from world music, books on handicrafts, fair trade coffee, arts and crafts and lots more.

But it wouldn’t be a book café if you couldn’t get food or drink to help satisfy you. Among other offers, you can partake of a cup of Colombian mountain coffee, beer from Sri Lanka or a glass of wine while you listen or leaf through books or just relax during a stressful journey through the big city.

On Tranquebar’s home page they also say that if you visit the ecological and fair trade book café, you risk becoming addicted to the place.

Several international opinion formers such as the author Naomi Klein and the former Danish Foreign Minister Uffe Ellemann Jensen have also been guests at Tranquebar.

Tranquebar, Borgergade 14, 1300 København K, tlf. 3312 5512. Open Mon-Fri 10 a.m. – 18 p.m. Sat 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. www.tranquebar.net
