A cyber attack against the NemID system that gives access to netbanks has spread, with several banks, among others Nordea reporting their systems down.
Access to the Nordea site stopped just before 11 a.m.
“It seems clear that this is the result of the amount of traffic there has been during the NemID attack, but we don’t know enough right now to be able to give more details,” says Nordea’s Press Officer Stephan Ghisler-Solvang.
“But it is important that our customers can still access the netbank from our emergency site,” he says.
The Nordea site is now up again, but Danske Bank is also said to have had problems, although the bank has not confirmed the problems encountered. SparNord Bank also says on its webpage that there are problems accessing its netbank. Jyske Bank has also been reported as having problems, although Area Manager Jens Nielsen says that despite a heavy load, the website has not crashed.
Both Nordea and Danske Bank established emergency access to their netbanks this morning, but other banks have not and are advising people to wait until NemID is back up and running.
