One person has been reported injured this afternoon during the World Outgames festival that is taking place across the Danish capital this week.

The incident took place when several maroon fireworks were lobbed at participants. It is unclear what type of maroons were used, some of which are extremely dangerous at close range.

The injured person has been taken to hospital and police are reported to have detained a 31-year-old man alleged to have lobbed the fireworks.

The World Outgames event began last Saturday and is one of the largest global events for homosexual, bi-sexual and transgender men and women and includes a broad array of sporting and cultural events.

Two drunken men were detained over the weekend after attacking several homosexual men in central Copenhagen. Both have been remanded in custody.
