Activists started the first demonstration of the COP15 summit with marches on some 15 targeted organisations and companies, but were met by a heavy police presence.

At one point, some 300 demonstrators were cordoned off on a Copenhagen bridge. A total of 52 demonstrators have been detained.

A group of demonstrators who attempted to force police lines, were firmly turned back by baton-wielding police.

As the ‘Don’t buy the lie’ demonstration began at 10.15 a.m., demonstrators were handed leaflets itemising the following targets for the day’s demonstration.

DI (confederation of Danish industries)

Hopenhagen

Bright Green Xpo at Forum (arranged by DI)

Danish Energy Association

McDonalds

Dan Forestry

Plastic and Packaging Industries of Denmark

Dansk Byggeri

Deloitte

ArcelorMittal

Mandag Morgen think tank

Repsol

Shell

Maersk

Ieta - International Emissions Trading Organization

Flyers called for demonstrators to move towards the headquarters of the companies and organisations concerned and ’cause chaos’. “The plan is to go where there is no police and arrive first to wreak as much havoc as possible,” the programme said.
