If you are out on the roads today beware – there is a high risk of icy roads as temperatures drop from above to below zero.

Although temperatures in several places have risen above zero this morning, they are due to drop again, and with wet roads, particularly in Greater Copenhagen, it may become very icy. The Met Office says that temperatures will be lowest in central Jutland, dropping to about minus 12 degrees during the night.

Although the meteorologists say that Monday’s weather patterns will be relatively calm, it appears this is the calm before the storm. Heavy snowfall is expected on Tuesday, with the Met Office expecting to send out a snowstorm warning later today.

The Meteorological Office issues snowstorm warnings when forecasts suggest more than 10 centimetres of snow in six hours and winds of more than 10 metres per second.
