The AOC restaurant run by Chefs Ronny Emborg and Michael Munk and Owner-Sommelier Christian Aarø has received its first Michelin star, placing it among the European gastronomic elite.

Located in Moltkes Palæ on Dronningens Tværgade street in Copenhagen, AOC - which stands for Aarø & Co. rather that ‘appellation d’origine contrôlée’ – changed to its current name in August 2009.

Denmark now has 12 Michelin-starred restaurants, but only one with two stars – Noma in Copenhagen. The following have one star: Kong Hans Kælder, Søllerød Kro, Era Ora, Formel B, The Paul, MR, Kiin Kiin, Paustian v. Bo Bech, Herman i Nimb, Kokkeriet and now AOC.

There are also seven Bib Gourmand restaurants – restaurants with high-quality products and services and good value for money. These are: Famo, Kanalen, L’Altro, Le Sommelier, Oubæk, Frederiks Have (2009) and a newcomer in 2010 Kødbyens Fiskebar.
