The town of Silkeborg west of Århus has been the target of several arson attacks recently.

But following an investigation by the Flying Squad, the public prosecutor for the region has arrested a police officer in connection with the fires.

“He is charged with several counts of arson in Silkeborg recently, including his own house,” says Public Prosecutor Peter Brøndt Jørgensen.

Fires have been started in houses and garages and the officer has been charged with several of the fires, although Brøndt has declined to say exactly how many.

“Not more than ten,” he says.
