Soupanatural specialises in stewed fruit, soups and cocktails, and is in many ways an exciting alternative to the larger cafés that have spread their scrambled egg brunches across most of the area around Sankt Hans Torv in Nørrebro.

The soups are made in-house and are often on the stove in large steel saucepans with four to six different soups that change from day to day and cost a sensible DKK 30 to DKK 85.

An extra DKK 5 will get you toppings of parmesan, crème fraîche or bacon.

It’s all ecological, and the menu and drinks list even provide small stars against the few raw materials that the establishment has been unable to get in an ecological variety. The food is served with brown, environment-friendly napkins.

The little bar is furnished with retro-furniture, orange lamps and graffiti on the walls and seats about 20. And as most of the seating is around two tables, you can’t avoid getting into conversation with whoever’s next to you.

Soupanatural, Guldbergsgade 7 A, Kbh. N., Open Mon-Tue 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wed-Thu 8 a.m. to midnight. Fri 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. Sat midday to 2 a.m. Sun midday to 10 p.m.www.soupanatural.dk
