The new in the old is what restaurant owners Jan Hurtigkarl and Jakob Mielke have created at their novel restaurant on Frederiksberg Runddel.
The new and completely renovated Mielcke and Hurtigkarl restaurant opened last year in 17th century premises that previously housed Restaurant Gastronomique.
With the help of youthful names such as Henrik Vibskov (fashion designer), Margrethe Odgaard (graphic artist) and Anika Lori (DJ and artist) they have created a new, young eatery in the yellow-plastered building in the Royal Garden Society’s garden – Denmark’s oldest and the second oldest garden society in the world.
Mielcke and Hurtigkarl take the best of all worlds and serve good food and wine. Their desserts, however, are their jewel in the crown – with one in particular craving exceptional attention: a salad turned inside out with olive oil ice cream, sweet artichoke, dill powder, fennel cream and pain d’épice.
