Copenhagen rescue services are battling to get a truck out of Christianhavns Canal after its driver forgot to pull the handbrake and the vehicle rolled into the waterway.
“The driver said that he had forgotten the handbrake and the truck was probably blown down into the canal by the wind,” Fire Chief Kristian Levy tells DR.
Levy says that the fire brigade is working hard to extract the errant vehicle in order to make sure its fuel tank does not leak into the canal – ironically enough in an area just outside the Environment Board.
The vehicle was carrying canisters of detergents which also toppled into the canal, but the fire brigade says these do not pose a risk and are being fished out of the canal.
