Niels Jørgen Holdt had an idea in 1980. It has skyrocketed ever since

Niels Jørgen Holdt is skeptical when I ask for an interview regarding this year’s DHL Relay, which sees around a quarter of a million participants across five cities.

»I’ve thought about it. Do you think there’s interest? It’s an old story«, he says.

My idea came from a social media photo of Niels Jørgen Holdt in his blue and light blue running shirt. It was taken during the Royal Run earlier this year. Standing next to him was a man wearing sunglasses with ’Frederik’ printed on his race number. Yes, that Frederik.
