There was a time when Danish governments were red or blue and usually depended on the center to secure a majority.
A time when it was a bit easier to be a political analyst and the scenarios for forming a government were manageable. Those days are definitively over.
So says Politiken’s political analyst, Elisabet Svane, whose view of possible governing constellations shifted markedly after Socialdemokratiet (S), Venstre (V), and Moderaterne (M) came together in 2022 in what Mette Frederiksen has previously called »a strange government.«
With the election now called, the field is wide open, Svane says, and it’s almost as if you’ll need the entire parliamentary alphabet to assess the possible scenarios for the next government.
