12 minutes was all two art thieves needed to remove a valuable bronze bust by Auguste Rodin from the art museum Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek in central Copenhagen. During the theft, which took place on July 16 when the museum was still open to the public, the two men headed straight for the Rodin Room that holds a famous collection of works by the great French sculptor. Here, they managed to remove the piece from its base, put it in a bag and leave the museum unnoticed by guards and visitors.
»It’s terrible«, said Flemming Friborg, director at Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek. »We lost an important work in the collection«.
