According to national police figures, 2007 saw a taxpayer bill of DKK 13.9 million to forcibly repatriate 189 asylum seekers who had been refused asylum.
65 cost most
While 124 people were escorted to aircraft taking them out of the country, mostly with paid tickets, 65 were escorted on their journey by two policemen requiring tickets, hotels and overtime.
Some of those repatriated were sent home in a chartered private aircraft as they were too upset or desperate to be taken on a normal aircraft.
