Men wait until they are drinking 83 beers or other units of alcohol per week and women 59 units before seeking treatment for alcohol problems, according to the latest statistics from the National Board of Health.
Seek help too late
The figures show that Danes are far too slow in seeking help for their alcohol problems, with a treatment system that has to contend with lengthy abuse. By the time they seek help, many men have had an alcohol problem for some 15 years and women for some 12 years.
