The Deputy Mayor of Elsinore has petitioned the welfare minister to allow for the removal from office of counsellors who leave their parties during an electoral period. Jørgen Hansen (SocDem) says that it is unreasonable that local politicians who have been elected on a party ticket, with only a few personal votes, leave their parties in mid-session.
Instead, Hansen says, party stand-ins should be allowed to take over the seat of a defector. But experts say that the practice cannot be stopped.
