Now is the time to consider whether the Socialist People’s Party should maintain its rejection of Denmark’s membership of the eurozone, according to the party’s EU spokesperson Anne Grete Holmsgaard. Denmark rejected membership of the euro in a referendum on September 28, 2000.

“We should discuss our attitudes to the euro as a result of the pressure on the krone. A large majority of SPP members have said quite clearly that they do not want the euro – and as spokesperson I must respect that. But this is a good time to take up the discussion. It’s impossible for me to determine whether it will end one way or the other,” says Holmsgaard in an interview with Ritzau.
