Government plans to shorten the unemployment benefit period are hanging in the balance following the breakdown in talks between the Finance Minister and the Social Democratic Party.

Finance MInister Lars Løkke Rasmussen says it will be difficult for the government to find a majority to shorten the benefit period from four to two years.
