The European Court of Human Rights has again invoked Rule 39 of its charter to stop Denmark forcibly repatriating three adult Tamils and two children.

Rule 39 is a temporary measure invoked by the court in acute situations pending a more extensive hearing. It is used to prevent rejected asylum seekers from being forcibly sent to countries where they risk persecution.
