Following Statistics Denmark's latest figures showing the first rise in unemployment in Denmark in five years, Finance Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen says that the figures are a sign that unemployment is on the increase.

"There is no doubt that in coming months we will see unemployment rise. This is unfortunate as over the past five years we have seen unemployment fall month for month to an historically low level. We have to go back 40 years to find something similar. We have to keep an open eye on developments, as we haven't got rid of unemployment one day, simply to re-introduce it the next," says Løkke Rasmussen.
