A large number of the 20-30,000 American reinforcements being sent to Afghanistan next year will be going to the province of Helmand, where Danish and British troops are currently battling the Taliban, according to defence sources.
While the reinforcement will provide some relief for troops already in the province, it may also result in increased operations. According to the sources, U.S. troops will be deployed in areas in Helmand where Taliban forces normally rest.
