Consumers are being urged to install energy-friendly fridges and cookers in the kitchen, but at the same time, extensive broadband use in the sitting room may be outweighing any overall national savings, according to Danish research.
The research claims that hidden electricity usage outside the home, as a result of Internet use inside, generates some 50 percent more electricity usage than user electricity meters show.
