An as yet unpublished official report on Denmark’s efforts to improve civilian conditions in Afghanistan’s Helmand province in 2008 shows that targets have been far from met.

In particular, goals that some 20,000 more Helmand children should go to school have not been met – only some 5,000 re-entered education. Efforts to give more girls the opportunity for an education have also been unsuccessful.
