The formal election of new members to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will not take place until the IOC’s session in Copenhagen in October. But Denmark’s Crown Prince Frederik is more or less assured of fulfilling his ambition as Denmark’s next IOC member according to the chairman of the Danish Sports Federation (DIF).

Election to the IOC is carried out by current members of the committee following nominations by the IOC Executive Committee which only puts forward enough candidates to fill vacancies.
