At a midday press conference on Thursday, Baden-Württemberg Interior Minister Heribert Rech reported that at 2:46 a.m. in the night before the shooting, a message was posted in an Internet chat room that is believed to have been written by Tim K.
"Shit Bernd, I have had enough," the message read. "I have had enough of this crappy life. Everything's the same. People make fun of me. Nobody recognizes my potential. I'm serious Bernd. I have weapons here. I am going to go to my former school tomorrow and thoroughly toast it. Maybe I'll even get away. Keep your ears open Bernd. You will hear from me tomorrow. Remember the name of the town Winnenden." The message ended by saying "but don't report me to the police. Don't worry, I'm just trolling." A "forum troll" is someone who deliberately posts outrageous messages to get a reaction.
