Despite it being relatively clear that Denmark’s then prime minister was likely to be appointed the next secretary-general of NATO last weekend and a change of premiership was on the cards, Conservative Leader Lene Espersen chose to go on holiday in Portugal.
As a result, she had to be airlifted back to Denmark in a private plane at taxpayer expense to say her party supported Lars Løkke Rasmussen as new prime minister.
