Denmark’s lower courts are so overloaded that criminals get lighter sentences or are let off because their cases have taken too long to get through the legal system.
According to a report from the Danish Courts Administration which is due out today, the current backlog is 50 percent greater than it was two years ago and processing times have increased by almost a third.
