A decision by the European Union to ban the import of any seal products into the Union is having a serious effect on Greenland-EU relations and is tantamount to the murder of a culture, according to one of Greenland’s two MPs in the Danish parliament.

Greenland is an autonomous part of the Danish realm, but despite Denmark’s EU membership is not a member of the European Union.
