The former Conservative Deputy Prime Minister Bendt Bendtsen is in trouble as a result of a speech about why he left his job as a police bodyguard.
In October 2008, Bendtsen held a speech for the Danish Royal Lifeguards Association in Copenhagen during which he said that he had left his job as a police bodyguard in the 1990s as he did not want to get in the way of a bullet targeted at former Social Democratic Prime Minister Poul Nyrup Rasmussen.
