Liberal and Conservative mayors say that the government of former Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen has not been particularly liberal in its attitude to local government – on the contrary it has increased bureaucracy and been too controlling.

A survey carried out by Berlingske Tidende shows that mayors are happier with the suggestion from the current Liberal Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen that local councils should have more freedom.
